    Athina Hélène Onassis (Greek: Αθηνά Ωνάση; born Athina Hélène Roussel (Greek: Αθηνά Ρουσσέλ), 29 January 1985[1]) is a French-Greek heiress and equestrian, the only surviving descendant of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, and the only child of Aristotle's daughter Christina Onassis.

    Onassis was born at American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, to Christina Onassis (1950–1988) and her fourth husband, Thierry Roussel,[4] a French pharmaceutical heir.[5] She was baptized on the island of Skorpios, owned by the Onassis family at the time.[3] Her parents were married from 1984 to 1987.[5] They divorced after Roussel had two children with his mistress, Swedish model Marianne "Gaby" Landhage.[5] Christina Onassis died of pulmonary edema[6] in November 1988, when Athina was three years old. After her mother's death, she was raised by Roussel and Landhage, whom Roussel later married.[5]

    Born Athina Hélène Onassis on 25 January 1985, Athina became the heiress of one of the most exceptional entrepreneurs of the 20th century. Before her birth, the future competitive showjumper's grandfather Aristotle Onassis had amassed a multi-billion dollar empire which included two Greek islands, priceless artworks and property and investments all over the world.
