Lucie Delarue-Mardrus

Lucie Delarue-Mardrus (3 November 1874 in Honfleur – 26 April 1945 ) was a French journalist, poet, novelist, sculptor, historian and designer. She was a prolific writer, who produced more than 70 books in her lifetime.
Biography
[edit]In France, she is best known for her poem beginning with the line "L'odeur de mon pays était dans une pomme" ("In an apple I held the smell of my native land.") Her writings express her love of travel and her love for her native Normandy. L'Ex-voto (1932), for example, describes the life and milieu of the fishermen of Honfleur on the eve of the twentieth century.
She was married to the translator J. C. Mardrus from 1900 to 1915, but her primary sexual orientation was toward women. She was involved with several women throughout her lifetime, and she wrote extensively of lesbian love.
In 1902-03, she wrote a series of love poems to the American writer and salon hostess Natalie Clifford Barney, published posthumously in 1957 as Nos secrètes amours (Our Secret Loves).[1] She also depicted Barney in her 1930 novel, L'Ange et les Pervers (The Angel and the Perverts), in which she said she "analyzed and described Natalie at length as well as the life into whic

Lucien Hector Jonas was born on April 8, 1880 in Anzin, France to a family who owned a large distillery. He received his bachelor of letters in June 1898, continuing his studies in Valenciennes with Joseph-Fortuné-Séraphin Layraud and also studying the violin for seven years at the Conservatoire de Valenciennes.
In 1899, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1900, he was finally admitted and, throughout his school years, he began developing a reputation for his work. He became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1901. Around 1902, Jonas also worked in Albert Maignan's studio and the two formed a lifelong friendship.
At the same time, he met Henri Harpignies, who took Jonas on as his protégé, developing in him his attraction for nature, and for painting pleine air. On the death of his father, October 2, 1902, Jonas abandoned the Fine Arts to return to Anzin and, with his mother, helped to manage the family distillery which was later taken on by his brother.
Back in Paris in 1903, he moved to No. 3 rue Lecourbe. In 1904, he took advantage of his stays in Anzin and the vast warehouses of the distillery to paint large compositions, inspired by the life around him. He won a silver medal at the Salon of 1905 and three oth
