Carmine Starnino has published three critically-acclaimed books of poetry: The New World (1997), which was shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, the QSPELL Prize for Poetry and was chosen as one of Quill & Quire’s Best Books of 1997; Credo (2000) which won the Canadian Authors Association Award for Poetry and the David McKeen Award; and With English Subtitles (2004) which won the A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry. He is an associate editor at Maisonneuve magazine and Books in Canada, and serves as poetry editor for Vehicule Press. He has also published A Lover’s Quarrel, which collected his reviews and essays on Canadian poetry, and The New Canon, a new anthology of fifty Canadian poets.

Carmine Starnino (born September 29, 1970) is a Canadian poet, literary critic, and editor.[1]
Life[]
Starnino was born in Montreal, Quebec, of Italian heritage.
He is the author of 4 collections of poems. He has also written A Lover's Quarrel (2004), a book of essays on Canadian poetry.
He is the editor of Signal Editions, and was formerly editor-in-chief of Maisonneuve.
Starnino is well known for the provocative nature of his criticism and pointedness of his opinions, which have incited a variety of heated counter-criticisms and critiques from other poets.[2]

His debut poetry collection, The New World (1997), was chosen by Quill & Quire as one of the Best Books of 1997, and was nominated for the 1997 Gerald Lampert Award.
His next collection, Credo (2000), won the 2001 Canadian Authors Association Prize for Poetry and the 2001 David McKeen Award for Poetry.
